JAMMU, Apr 9: Pradesh Congress Committee president, Vikar Rasool has criticised the JKUT administration for being irresponsive towards resolving people’s burning problems and instead adding to their woes by unleashing “tax terror” under the falsification of UT of Jammu and Kashmir at par with rest of the country.
While people are facing hardships in view of poor civic amenities, unemployment, rampant corruption and repeated destruction of crops due to vagaries of weather, the administration under Lt Governor are only indulging in self-praise merely to grab headlines.
Addressing a mass dharna held at Bari Brahmana today in connection with party’s ongoing “Jai Bharat Satyagrah” in protest against the Narendra Modi government’s inaction against unemployment, encouraging crony capitalism and repeated attempts to muzzle democratic institutions against which former party president Rahul Gandhi has been raising voice, JKPCC chief said that nothing will deter the Congress leaders and rank and file from carrying forward the mission of Gandhi to expose misdeeds of this Government.
The mass dharna which was followed by protest march organised by AICC member and senior advocate Mohinder Bhardwaj, was attended by a large number of people from neighbouring Vijaypur and Bishnah Assembly constituencies. The participants raised slogans against the Modi Government and the UT administration for not resolving even their routine problems.
Bhardwaj said that the BJP Govt has unleashed repressive measures including cancellation of his Lok Sabha seat followed by vacation of his official bungalow and even disconnection power and internet connections in his Lok Sabha constituency of Waynad in Kerala to silence Gandhi. All such repressive moves are proving counterproductive as Gandhi is determined to fight to save democracy and expose crony capitalism which has come in the form of “Modani” the combine of Modi and his friend industrialist Gautam Adani.
Senior leaders Gurbachan Kumari Rana, Balwan Singh, Hussain Ali Wafa, Ashok Dubey, Ashwani Puri, Sanjeev Sharma, Sarpanchs Badri Sharma & Rajesh Sharma, Babbal Gupta and Rashpal also joined.
While leading another party Satyagrah protest march at Chatha, Bhour Camp in Jammu South and New Plots in the North, JKPCC working president Raman Bhalla alleged that ruling BJP was hell bent to destroy opposition in the country. He alleged that those opposition leaders who raise voice for public issues and speak against Government, are targeted by adopting unfair means. BJP tries to silence their voice.
Bhalla who was accompanied by former minister Yogesh Sawhney, Ravinder Sharma- chief spokesperson, Vijay Sharma from Seva Dal and Amrit Bali, said that Congress is the only alternative available to the people in J&K and the people here have made up their mind to support Congress as they have now realized their previous mistake. He alleged that Modi Govt has failed on all fronts in J&K and is trying to divert the attention of the people by raising non-issues.
