Veteran freedom fighter passes away

SRINAGAR, Nov 21: A veteran leftist leader and a freedom fighter Ghulam Ahmed Lone, who was associated with progressive movement in the State breathed his last at his ancestral village Bandipora. He was 95.
Lone has been among the founder members of Democratic National Conference (DNC) with former Chief Minister Ghulam Mohammed Sadiq but he never took interest in the politics of power and continued his struggle for the welfare of the people of the State throughout his life.
He was the follower of great freedom fighter Bhagat Singh and was of the opinion that India has yet to attain freedom from poverty, hunger etc. Lone dedicated every thing to the State and has no asset left behind. People from all walks of life including the trade unionists Mir Ghulam Raasool, Ghulam Mohammed Bhat, Com Baldev Raj, Abdul Rehman, Abdul Ahad Rather, G M Bhat and People’s Conference general secretary Rashid Mehmood attended his funeral procession and recalled his self less services to the people of the State.
