JAMMU, Nov 21: Nav Durga Kala Manch today staged a new Hindustani play “Parakh” at its Performing Art Studio, Tangewali Gali, Kachi Chowni, Jammu with the financial assistance of J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages, Jammu. The play was written by Shashi Bhushan and directed by Aaditya Bhanu.
Kumar A Bharti, renowned writer and theatrist was chief guest on the occasion.
The plot of the play revolves around Chuni Lal, who is of the view that a successful life can be lead only if one has a good understanding of our partner/ relations i.e., Parakh is the only key to build a strong and healthy relation in one’s life. The play opens with the scene where Chuni discuss with his friend about his classmate Shobha who loves him and Chuni is also fond of her. Since his wife has left him after ten years of marriage without having divorce due to lack of understanding and now he feels deserted but its seems that Shobha could fill colours to his life. On the other hand, Chuni’s mother comes to know about Shobha through their postman and thus a confrontation takes place between them. Also 20 year old Kusum, his daughter tries to mould his father but Chuni remains adamant for the marriage and thus Kusum leaves her father and leaves to her mother.
In the climax, the inner voice of Chuni tells him that the relations are not built and matured merely by Parakh but an understanding of the relations is must. Here, his friend tells him that Shobha has ditched him and married a business man so its better to go and bring back his wife and daughter to home as no body is complete, only fifty percent understanding takes place between two individuals and rest of fifty percent is to do compromise in life to have the relations going on.
