JAMMU, Apr 12: Project Director Samagra Shiksha J&K, Er Deep Raj Kanethia & Director School Education Jammu Dr Ravi Shanker, today inaugurated the School building at Girls High School Gandhi Nagar Jammu.
The building has been completed under Samagra Shiksha with the approved cost of Rs 42.74 lacs comprising of Library Hall, Art and Craft Room and Science Laboratory.
Project Director Samagra Shiksha, in his address on the inaugural ceremony, expressed his satisfaction and gratitude regarding amenities being made available for girl students under the aegis of Samagra Shiksha. He informed that, in last year (2022-23) approximately 800 civil works (School buildings, Libraries, Toilets, Girls Hostels, KGBVs etc) have been completed with the financial implication of Rs 160.00 crores and for current year, target of 1000 works has been fixed for improving the infrastructure in the Schools.
PD Samagra Shiksha also laid stress on providing quality education to the students and further said that, as per New Education Policy, child- centric curriculum to be followed in letter and spirit by the teaching community.
Director School Education, Dr Ravi Shanker, in his address, said that, Samagra Shiksha is doing at its best for providing facilities to the students. He said that, every possible effort shall be made to maintain the standards at each level in providing quality meals, accommodation facilities, safety and security of the children and all allied requirements of the young minds.
He said that presently Enrolment drive is going on across the UT of J&K and all Teachers should play their role in bringing the children in the School. He said that, NEP 2020 has focussed on pre-Primary Education, for which kindergartens are being established across the UT of J&K. He also informed that, 1741 Kindergartens have been established under UT capex and 1859 shall be established under Samagra Shiksha, where child friendly furniture shall be provided in the next couple of months.
Deputy Director Planning Bilal Rashid, Field Advisor J.K Padha, Cluster Head, Adarsh Kumari, Head of Institution, Ganesh Khajuria, also spoke on the occasion and the programme was attended by Head Mistress, other officers, officials of Education Department.
