JAMMU, Apr 12: All India Panchayat Parishad (AIPP) celebrated its 65th Foundation Day at Akhnoor, near here today in which Kuldeep Sharma was nominated as J&K convener of Panchayati Raj Campaign Committee.
National president Ashok Singh Jadaun, national general secretary SS Vijay Mishra, national vice president Mohinder and Panchayati Raj members along with other dignitaries including J&K in-charge Jugal Kishore Gupta and Uttar Pradesh general secretary Rakesh Singh were present during the event, which was chaired by All India Panchayati Raj Campaign Committee president Kuldeep Sharma at Amar Palace Akhnoor.
During the program, the ‘Back to Village’ program of the J&K Government and works of various Gram Panchayats were reviewed.
The national president Ashok Singh Jadaun advocated that the Panchayat representatives should be given freedom to work independently and asserted that the bureaucracy is trying to dominate the working of Panchayants in the Union Territory.
SS Vijay Mishra said, “AIPP is a national level organization and many schemes are being implemented by the Centre and State Government only on the proposal of this body.”
J&K president Dr. Kuldeep Sharma said that in Gujarat, Kerala and West Bengal, the Panchayats have maximum rights, but in the Union Territory, the rights are still in the paper only. He also asserted that the bureaucrats are dominating Panchayati Raj in J&K, which is unfortunate.
J&K Panchayati Raj Campaign Committee president, Kuldeep Sharma raised the issue of shortage of funds in every panchayat of Jammu and Kashmir consequently the Gram Panchayats lacked development.
He said that lakhs of MGNREGA liabilities are pending in Jammu & Kashmir due to which people of rural areas are suffering a lot. He appealed to national office bearers to raise these issues with the Center Government.
Sarpanch Tarlochan Dutt, Sarpanch Rashpal Sharma, Sarpanch Revti Sharma, Sarpanch Pooja Devi, Sarpanch Ajeet, Sarpanch Babita Bhat, Sarpanch Nisha Verma, Sarpanch Varinder Kumar (Bubby) and many others were present during the function.
