Smugglers held with heroin, cash

POONCH, Apr 12: Continuing its drive against drug-peddling, the police arrested three narcotic smugglers and recovered some quantity of heroin and cash from their possession in Surankote area of district Poonch today.
Official sources said that acting on specific inputs, a police party intercepted three alleged narcotic smugglers namely- Altaf Ahmed, son of Mir Mohd, resident of Sanai Bella in Surankote; Azad Ahmed, son of Abdul Majeed, hailing from Sanai and Naveed Ahmed, son of Mohd Sharief, resident of Samote village in Surankote area. During their search, contraband substance (heroin), weighing 9.35 grams  and Rs 45,060 in cash were recovered from their possession.
The recovery was made by Police team lead by SHO, Surankote, Insp Rajveer Singh, under the supervision of DySP Surankote, Tanveer Jeelani.
A case FIR No. 62/2023 U/S 8(a)/ 21/22/NDPS Act was registered at Police Station, Surankote in this connection and further investigation taken up.
