JAMMU, Apr 13: A cultural event was organized by Cultural Committee and NSS Unit of Government SPMR College of Commerce in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages under the aegis of G-20 and IQAC.
The programme began with the traditional lighting of lamp. Prof Dr Surinder Kumar, Principal of the college was the chief guest on the occasion while as Bharat Singh Manhas, Secretary, J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages was the guest of honour.
Principal, in his address, asked the young generation to remain attached with the cultural roots and highlighted the importance of celebrating the folk festivals. Bharat Singh Manhas said that the Cultural Academy will always make endeavours to promote the young talents and provide platform to the artists for showcasing their talent.
Prof Deepshikha Sharma, Convener, Cultural and Literary Committee presented the formal welcome address. Students of the college presented vibrant dance and singing performances and enthralled the audience. The artists from other parts of J&K also participated in the festival and mesmerized the audience with their soulful singing.
The programme was compared by Prof Apfan Ali, NSS PO. Other staff members present in the function were Prof Barbara Kaul, Prof Savita Jamwal, Dr Monika Malhotra (IQAC Coordinator), Prof Ashu Manhas, Prof Harpreet Kour, Prof Sindhu Kotwal, Prof Deepak Pathania, Prof Reeta Menia and Dr Shah Nawaz, Cultural Officer of J&K Academy of Art Culture and Languages. Dr Rita Devi presented the formal vote of thanks.
