SRINAGAR, Apr 15: Students of Kashmir University’s Kashmiri Department today alleged that the National Eligibility Test (NET) paper for the subject was leaked while seeking an immediate inquiry to ascertain facts.
Despite sending a representation to the Vice-Chancellor of the varsity, Dean Academics, and the concerned Head of Department (HoD), the matter has not been taken note of, according to the students.
The aspirants are demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry to ascertain the facts and to find out how a few candidates managed to score 96 out of 100 and 100 out of 100 in some cases. “We believe that there was something wrong with the process,” the students said.
Bilal Ahmad Lone from Sopore, one of the aspirants who appeared for the exam, said that the examination was held on February 22, and the result came out a few days ago. He added that soon after the exam, they got in touch with the concerned officials with their apprehensions but to no avail.
“One of the candidates, who scored beyond imagination, has already stated that he had the paper,” he said.
They demanded a probe to identify the culprits while noting that they are sure that the paper was leaked. They urged the LG administration to take note of it without any further delay.
They said that such incidents undermine the sanctity of the examination process and put genuine students at a disadvantage. “We request the authorities to take action to ensure that such incidents are not repeated in future.
