Social forum ‘Khatri Arora Consortium’ constituted

JAMMU, Apr 16: Members of Khatri and Arora communities today met first time at Channi Himmat to launch a social forum under the name and style of ‘Khatri Arora Consortium’.
Advocate V K Grover was installed as president of the Consortium while Jitender Aul and Rajesh Pandoh were appointed as vice-presidents. Those present on the occasion included Adarsh Pandoh, Ajay Gandotra, Anil Sawhney, Ashwany Puri, BM Gandotra, BR Abrol, Deepak Kohli, Girish Bajaj, Jatinder Aul, Maneesh Gandotra, PK Talwar, Dr Lokesh Verma, RC Nanda, Rajan Batta, Rajesh Pandoh, Raman Gandotra, Sanjay Sethi, TR Soi and VK Grover.
It was resolved in the meeting that the Consortium shall work with full sincerity, dedication, devotion and loyalty in a spirit of unity. They shall also support the Consortium financially and otherwise for the upliftment of both the communities and shall work in true spirit of constitution of this association (Consortium). It shall purely be a social and non-political organization, though for achieving its targets assigned in its constitution political support may be sought and obtained.
Addressing the gathering, Advocate V K Grover assured the participants of framing a Constitution Committee and an Executive Committee in cooperation with two vice presidents in a very short time. He further revealed and impressed upon audience that Khatris and Aroras are both upper-castes as narrated by Emperor Jehangir in his autobiography Jahangirnama.
He lauded the roles of Khatris in Bollywood through stalwarts like Raj Kapoor, BR Chopra, Yash Chopra, Subhas Ghai, Dev Anand, Ekta Kapoor, Prakash Mehra, Shekhar Kapur and Vidhu Vinod Chopra who are all Khatris. He also mentioned roles of Sunil Grover, Juhi Chawla, Vijay Arora, Amrita Arora, Jas Arora and Malaika Arora. He mentioned about the contribution of Astronaut Kalpna Chawla who lost her life in the field of science and technology.
