ANTF seizes narcotics in Jammu; two including one from Kashmir held

JAMMU, Apr 18: Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), a specialized unit of Jammu and Kashmir Police, has seized a large quantity of formulated narcotics drugs from a sleeper bus here and arrested its driver.
In another operation in Kashmir Valley, the ANTF claimed to have arrested another drug supplier/kingpin, who is involved in multiple cases of NDPS Act.
A press statement issued by the spokesperson of the ANTF said that during the raids conducted here at Narwal area of the District, the ANTF team identified and arrested one of the most wanted drug suppliers, Mohammad Ishaq, also known as Shaka, along with Codeine Phosphate bottles. Shaka is the main drug peddler of Channi Himmat Jammu.
According to ANTF spokesperson, Shaka is involved in multiple cases of NDPS Act registered at different police stations and is the main supplier of the narcotics and psychotropic substances being smuggle from NCR to J&K UT. A case has been registered against him under FIR number 3/2023 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act at Police Station ANTF.
Further investigation by ANTF has revealed that there is a nexus between narcotics drug peddlers and few distributors of Delhi, NCR, and Solan who supply the formulated narcotics to the peddlers in Jammu and Kashmir. The suppliers and distributors supply the drugs to the addicted youth of the UT of JK and Punjab.
“The ANTF is currently working on unearthing the nexus between the suppliers and the distributors and owners of the bus, if any, who transport narcotics to different States,” read the press statement.
Meanwhile, in another successful operation, the ANTF Jammu, with the help of Budgam Police, conducted raids at multiple locations in Kashmir Valley and arrested a notorious kingpin/supplier who was wanted in a case registered under FIR number 15/2023 under Sections 8/15/20/25/29 of the NDPS Act 201 IPC at Police Station ANTF Jammu.
As per the press statement, he is the main supplier of the narcotics and psychotropic drugs being smuggled from Jammu and Kashmir to Punjab and other states of northern India.
Additionally, the ANTF Jammu, has acted swiftly and arrested two of the drug receivers in Jalandhar, Punjab. They were reportedly attempting to escape to the foreign countries.
The ANTF has urged the general public, particularly the youth, to stay away from the drugs and share any information regarding drug-related activities with them so that strict legal actions can be taken against such drug dealers.
