JAMMU, Apr 18: The people of Channi Himmat are facing acute power crisis in this scorching heat.
In a statement issued here, today president of Channi Himmat Residents Welfare Association Sector 5 Housing Colony, V K Grover said the havoc created by the PDD over supply of electricity to Jammu, particularly in a posh locality like Channi Himmat in this Summer season when the residents pray God for respite from scorching heat.
He said when there is a small shower of rain or wind the entire system supplying power to the area is switched off putting people to lot of trouble.
He said taking excuse of power curtailment, the water supply is also disrupted as the staff of PHE is unable to supply water without electricity.
He said in this era of modern society when the Central Government is dreaming of making Jammu as a Model and Smart City these two departments are hell bent upon creating chaos in the society. The electronic gadgets like computers, refrigerators and printers etc. are so vulnerable and delicate to fluctuation in power that they get burnt in such a situation causing great financial loss despite lot of financial burden these consumers bear by way of enhanced power and water tariffs.
He said though the issue was taken up with the higher ups in the administration but to no avail.
He in an appeal to Chief Engineer M&RE Jammu sought his immediate intervention in the matter failing which people will be left with no alternative but to come to streets.
