Two nabbed with over 1 kg contraband

LEH, Apr 18: District Police Leh today arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
“A team of Police Post Choglamsar (Leh) while conducting random naka checking at Choglamsar Zampa area, apprehended a suspicious person carrying a carry bag. Upon checking the bag, the police team recovered Ganja like substance weighing around 1.135 kg from the possession of the suspicious person namely Amit Tiwari son of Kamlesh Tiwari, resident of Bihar (at present living in Solar Colony Leh) and a painter by profession,” a police spokesman said.
He said a case FIR Number 51/23 U/S 8/20/29 NDPS Act was registered in this connection at Police Station Leh and upon further investigation into the case, links of other persons’ involvement surfaced and one more peddler was arrested on the same day namely Parshotam Tiwari son of Keshaw Tiwari of Bihar (presently living in Saboo area of Leh) with Ganja like substance weighing around 428 g from his rented accommodation at Saboo.
“Efforts to nab other peddlers if any linked with the case are being made,” the spokesman said, adding, investigation so far has revealed that these persons used to sell the drugs among non-local labourers and select locals at very high prices.
