Inter-district burglars gang busted, 11 arrested

Srinagar Apr 18: Srinagar police arrested 11 thieves of an inter-district burglar gang and recovered stolen property worth lakhs of rupees from them.
A Police spokesman said that during the intervening night of March 2 and 3, theft occurred at Rawatpora Baghat in Srinagar when thieves barged into the house of Abdul Rehman Rather son of Mohammad Shaban Rather of Rawathpora Baghat and decamped with jewellery and cash.
Police said that on receipt of this FIR no 18/2023 u/S 457,380,411 IPC was registered in Police Station Sadder and investigation was set in motion.
Police said that during the course of investigation 11 accused persons were arrested. They have been identified as Abdul Qayoom Guroo son of Mohammad Shafi Guroo of Rabtar Gund Roshan Ganderbal, Nazakat Ahmad Khan son of Nazir Ahmad Khan of Tikeri Udhampur, Arif Ahmad Guroo alias Tasleem Arif son of Mohammad Shafi of Rabtar Gund Roshan Ganderbal, Shareef Ahmad Guroo son of Mohammad Shafi of Rabtar Gund Roshan Ganderbal, Sameer Hussain son of Ghulam Hussain of Sultanpora Pattan, Asif Hussain Dar son of Ghulam Hussain Dar of Sultanpora Pattan, Shabaz Hussain Laway son of Mohmmad Afzal Laway of Sultanpora Pattan, Abdul Rashid Guroo son of Sanullaha Guroo of Rabtar Gund Roshan Ganderbal, Arif Ahmad Garoo son of Sanullaha Guroo of Rabtar Gund Roshan Ganderbal, Mohammad Haneef Guroo son of Sanullaha Guroo of Rabtar Gund Roshan Ganderbal and Mohammad Maqbool Laway son of Ghulam Mohammad Laway of Sultanpora Pattan.
Police said that stolen property 168 gms Gold (in the form of various jewellery items), cash Rs 70,000 and two Vehicles Belanoo JK05H 4535, Alto JK13 F 4524 and Pulsar Bike were recovered from their possession, 72gms gold (consisting of jewellery items) pertains to the FIR, rest Gold ornaments pertains to other thefts of Srinagar/other districts.
Abdul Qayoom Guroo, Nazakat Ahmad Khan, Arif Ahmad Guroo and Shareef Ahmad Guroo are main thieves who committed Baghat theft and rest are receivers of stolen property.
During investigation four main accused pertaining to the said case were arrested from the twin districts of South Kashmir at Naina Batapura Pulwama and Amono Kulgam.
Two accused Qayoom Ahmad Guroo of Gund Rabitar Ganderbal and Nazakat Ahmad Khan of Bathindi Jammu were arrested from Naina Batpura Pulwama and other two Tasleem Guroo and Arif Guroo of Gund Rabitar Shadipora from Amono Kulgam .
On their disclosure five more accused who were receivers of stolen property were arrested from Ganderbal and Baramulla districts in different raids.
“One interesting fact about the gang is that it is being operated by three brothers from the same house hold, who closely coordinate these thefts in the areas of different districts and police Stations across the Valley,” police said.
