GANDHINAGAR, Nov 23:
Self-styled godman Asaram has filed a regular bail petition in a local court here in connection with a rape complaint lodged by a Surat-based woman a month ago.
Asaram, who was brought here on a transit warrant from Jodhpur jail in connection with the rape complaint, was sent to jail by the local court after his four-day remand was over few weeks ago. He was later sent back to Jodhpur jail as per the transit warrant issued by a Jodhpur court.
The court has fixed hearing on the petition on December 2.
Two Surat-based women have filed separate rape complaints against Narayan Sai and his father Asaram Bapu with Surat police. Asaram is already in a Jodhpur jail following a rape complaint by a minor girl with Jodhpur police.
Narayan Sai is on the run after a Surat court issued an arrest warrant against him. Now he has been declared an absconder and the police has announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for the information leading to his arrest. (UNI)
