JAMMU : There is a need to inculcate moral values in children, Chief Minister Omar Adullah today said and called for a change in the education system so that the “childhood is restored to the children”.
“All-round personality development should be the necessary part of the education system in all the educational institutions,” Omar said at a function of scouts and guides here today.
“It has been observed that more stress is being given on academic side of education, ignoring the importance of non-formal and moral education,” he said.
Omar gave Rashtrapati Puraskar to scouts and guides of J&K chapter on behalf of the President at a function here.
“By introducing a system of education where so many books are handed over to the children from the nursery level we have snatched their childhood from them,” he said.
The chief minister said that the present day practice in the educational system is to judge the capacity and capability of a student from his marks sheet.
