JAMMU, Apr 22: Though Election Commission of India (ECI) has not taken any decision on holding of much delayed Assembly elections in the UT of J&K, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in its Core Group meeting here, today asked its cadre to gear up for the next year’s Lok Sabha as well as Panchayat and Local Bodies elections which are due to be held in October -November this year.
According to sources, BJP during the Core Group meeting while unfolding the party’s future programmes to be held in connection with completion of Narendra Modi’s nine years in Government said the focus of the month -long programme held from May 15 to June 15 allover country including J&K should be on elections to Lok Sabha, Panchayats and Local bodies.
Sources said BJP national general secretary and in charge J&K Tarun Chugh informed the Core Group members that even ECI can take the decision about the Assembly elections at any time and hence party should make exercise for the same from today also.
Tarun Chugh, while addressing the meeting stressed on formation of a robust strategy for defeating the opponents in the elections.
The Core Group meeting was attended by Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh, party president JK UT, Ravinder Raina, MP, Jugal Kishore Sharma, BJP general secretary (Org), Ashok Koul, former Deputy CMs, Dr Nirmal Singh and Kavinder Gupta, former Minister, Sat Sharma party general secretaries, Dr D K Manyal, Sunil Sharma and Vibodh Gupta, former MLA , Devender Rana, party chief spokesperson, Sunil Sethi and spokesperson, G L Raina.
However, party MP Gulam Ali Khatana and senior leader Dr Darkshan Andrabi could not attend the meeting as they were pre-occupied with celebration of Eid festival.
Sources said the recent militant attack on Army bus at Poonch also figured in the meeting. While party expressed full confidence in the Government machinery involved in handling the militancy, said that Pakistan under desperation after seeing that the situation is fast changing in J&K for better is resorting to such inhuman acts.
The Core Group, while warning Pakistan to desist from such acts, said it has failed to restrain its anti India activities and has not learned any lesson from ‘Operation Balakote’.
The Core Group, while deliberating on ‘Booth Sushakti Karan’ was informed that 90 percent booths in Jammu region have been covered under the programme till date.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of Core Group meeting Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh said such meetings are a routine matter in BJP and there is nothing new in it.
He said all issues as a routine are being discussed in such meetings and future strategy of the party is also evolved as per the party tradition.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that as Modi Government is completing nine years in office the party will take the achievements of the Government to people. He said Modi led nation from pessimism to optimism. Today youth is in high spirits as India’s prestige has increased at international level.

He said “Earlier we were importing defence equipments and after 2014 we have started exporting them which has increased by six percent now,. This is a great achievement of Narendra Modi Government in nine years’”, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said 11000 houses are constructed under PMAY every day. Besides, special attention was paid to those sections of society for upliftment by Modi Government which were ignored by previous rulers.
He said up to 2014 when Modi Government came to power 3.50 lakh kilometer roads were constructed under PMGSY which has increased by 7 lakh kms in last nine years. “Today India is ranking third in Saratups which is a great achievement”, he added.
Referring to J&K, he said road network has tremendously increased in the UT. Udhampur and other districts of Jammu region which had earlier no road connectivity have now good roads, he added.
He said Indians are now respected allover world because they know that country is headed by such a leader who is honoured all over the world.
In response to a question that opposition parties are blaming Modi Government of misusing CBI, Dr Jitendra Singh said that CBI works independently. He said those who talk like this are not coming out of Congress mindset when Supreme Court of India had said during UPA rule that CBI is parrot in cage. But the entire situation changed after 2014, he added.
Earlier Tarun Chugh, addressed the meeting of district Prabharis, Seh- Prabharis, presidents and general secretaries.
He said that Bharatiya Janata Party is dedicated to long-term beneficial national policies coinciding with impartial social and economical development. He said that people have appreciated the policies and the thought process of BJP, the only need is that senior party leaders should approach them with clear understanding of all the issues. He asked the district Prabhari, Seh- Prabhari, presidents and general secretaries to ensure mass contact programmes with an issue solving approach.
Ravinder Raina said that Modi Government’s era has been of fulfillment of the expectations of every section of society. The Modi Government has been dedicated to the empowerment of all needy, he said and added that the BJP led Government has expectedly fulfilled the hope and aspirations of the people of the country and especially the J&K has witnessed a whole lot of positive changes.
He prompted the Prabharis, Seh- Prabharis, presidents and general secretaries to be the ambassadors of the party within the masses.
Ashok Koul discussed and presented the details of various organizational developments in the meeting. He also discussed the forthcoming party programmes. He asked the party leaders to present reporting and the issues, which have come across in the working of party’s district units.
