JAMMU, Nov 24: Supreme sacrifices of Shri Bawa Jitto (Baba Jitt Mal Dev Ji Maharaj) who laid down his life for the cause of farmers were recalled at an impressive function organized by Department of Agriculture here today.
The speakers on the occasion paid rich tributes to this epitome of farming community in the State and saluted his courage against injustice and suppression by landlords.
The function as usual is jointly organised every year by All J&K Agriculture Employees Association, Agriculture Drivers Union and the officers and staff of Directorate of Agriculture Jammu.
While paying glorious tributes to Baba Jitto, Director Agriculture Ajay Khajuria lauded his honesty, humility, courage and truthfulness. Recalling his sacrifices for the farming community, he said the people should get inspiration from his life and work for the betterment of the mankind.
A hawan was also performed on the occasion which was followed by distribution of Prasad.
Besides other officers of the department leaders of Agriculture Employees Association, NGAGA and Drivers Union also attended the function.
