Govt to discuss minority status for Sikhs at right forum: Bhalla

BARAMULLA, Nov 24: Minister for Horticulture and Housing, Raman Bhalla today said that Government will discuss minority status to Sikh community at right forum and every effort will be made to fulfil their aspirations.
The Minister was addressing a congregation at Baramulla today, convened to look into the genuine problems being faced by the Sikh community. He said that mutual brotherhood is the basic principle of present Government and communal harmony has been a binding force between various communities of the State. He said that liberal funding by the Central Government headed by Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson, Sonia Gandhi has revolutionised the pace of progress on developmental and welfare fronts of the state. He said there is room for improvement and many steps need to be taken for fulfilling the genuine demands of the people living in three regions of the state.
He asked the people to approach the Government for obtaining various facilities in Horticulture and Housing Department and the Government will leave no stone unturned in fulfilling their demands.
The Minister asked the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla to identify the land for construction of Housing Colony in the district.
The function was attended by MLC, Ghulam Nabi Monga and other leaders of the district.
