JAMMU, Apr 26: To fulfill the long pending and pressing demand of local residents and shopkeepers of the old city, Mayor Jammu, Rajinder Sharma and Narotam Sharma, corporator Ward Number 3 Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) on Wednesday started work on RCC drainage on both sides of the bazaar from Link Road to Pir Mitha.
Locals and shopkeepers were demanding the RCC drainage system to solve the problem once and for all. As part of his campaign “Samasya Aap Ke Smadhan Maira” to solve peoples’ problems on priority, Narotam Sharma took the matter with concerned officers and sanctioned the work on priority.
While starting the work, Narotam Sharma said that this work worth Rs 50 lakh and is being executed through UEED which would be completed in a stipulated time. He assured residents of Ward Number 3 that solving peoples’ issues was his priority.
Vice president of J&K BJP, Yudhvir Sethi, spokesperson of J&K BJP, Purnima Sharma, district president, Parmodh Kapahi, Mandal president, Parveen Kerni, Vidhya Devi, Saroj Gupta, Anuradha Sharma, Ram Lubhaiya, Sanjay Sharma, Sanjay Abrol, Akhil Gupta, Dinesh Vermani, Raj Khajuria, and prominent citizens were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile Mayor visited Anuradha Puram, Barnai, Ward 65 along with officers and listened to public problems there. The Mayor gave on spot instructions to the concerned engineers for construction of a drain in the colony to divert the drainage water coming from up streams and which has caused havoc to the locals during past rains. He urged the concerned engineers to frame estimates for the drain as well as blacktopping of the lanes and by lanes in the area as the residents were facing many hardships due to dilapidated lanes and by lanes. He also gave on spot instructions for restoration of street lights in the colony which had turned defunct.
