Chairperson BDC Kargil calls on LG

LEH, Apr 26: Chairperson, Block Development Council, Kargil, Khatija Banoo, called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Retd) Dr BD Mishra, at Raj Niwas.
Secretary, Ravinder Kumar and Director, Department of School Education Ladakh, Tsering Paldan, were also present in the meeting.
Khatija raised several issues related to her constituency, including the need to issue Actual Line of Control (ALC) certificates to villagers of Karkit, Kaksar, Latoo, Chanigound, Hardass, Hunderman and Shilikchey; the need for reservation of seats for women in LAHDC; the need to enhance Block Development Council funds for Kargil block to carry out developmental works in all the villages in her constituency; the need for LG’s intervention in ensuring funds for Border Area Development in border areas of Kargil district; upgradation of Sub-Centres at Minjee, Sapi, Chanigound and Kaksar as New Type Primary Health Centres (NTPHCs) and NTPHCs at Badgam and Choskore as Primary Health Centres along with necessary ambulance services.
She also demanded upgradation of Govt High Schools at Karkit Badgam and Minjee as Govt Higher Secondary Schools, Govt Model Schools at Shilikchey Baithang and Shilikchey Farkas as Govt High Schools and Primary School Hitto Karkit as Govt Middle School along with infrastructure development of Govt Higher Secondary School at Chanigound, special recruitment package for youth from border areas, providing machinery/equipment for knitting, tailoring and embroidery to empower women from Kargil, r inclusion of Sheena-Dardic language in the 8th Schedule, land development at Birayi Karkit through lift-irrigation project, sanctioning lift-irrigation for Serthang Hardass, widening and blacktopping of Karkit-Badgam Road, early completion of pending construction work of the Karkitchoo road along with completing the pending construction work on the link road from Hardass Gound to Dopithang Hardass, declare villages like Latoo, Karkitchoo, Majdass, Chanigound, Hardass and Shilikchey as Apricot Model Villages, etc.
The LG instructed the Director of the Department of School Education to look into the issues raised by Khatija and take necessary measures to address them. He assured to look into other matters also.
