Sopore police bust gang of burglars, 3 arrested

Srinagar, Apr 28: Sopore Police today busted a gang of burglars and recovered stolen property worth lakhs of rupees.
As per details, the Police Post Warpora received a complaint on April 11 from Wajhatul Islam, son of Ab Hameed Hajam and resident of Botingoo Sopore.
He alleged that during the intervening night of April 10-11, 2023, some unknown burglars had broken into his sports shop located at Kadlabal Botingoo and had stolen sports items worth lakhs of rupees.
Following the complaint, the police registered a case (FIR No. 61/2023) under sections 457 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code at PS Sopore and initiated an investigation.
During the investigation, the police launched a manhunt to nab the culprits and conducted raids at various locations, while several suspects were taken into custody and subjected to sustained interrogation.
After a thorough investigation, three persons identified as Shoib Bhat, son of Mohammad Sultan Bhat, Rameez Ahmad Rather, son of Mohammad Ashraf Rather and Nayeem Ahmad Najar, son of Gh Ahmad Najar, all residents of Usmanabad Warpora Sopore, confessed to the crime.
The stolen property, including cricket kits and bats, were recovered from different locations as per their disclosure. The load carrier bearing registration number PB10FV4078, which was used in the commission of the crime, has also been seized.
The investigation is still ongoing, and the police are working towards uncovering further details related to the case.
