JAMMU, Apr 30: A complex orthopedic surgery of knee known as the total knee replacement was performed in the hospital GHRC Kathua. The hospital achieved another milestone by performing painless replacement surgery with latest implants and with minimal blood loss. It was minimally invasive using smaller incisions.
The surgery was performed by Dr Mohinder Singh Chib on a 70 years old patient who was having severe osteoarthritis of the knee joint with varus and flexion deformity due to which he was unable to perform his daily activities. He also had chronic kidney disease and hypertension. He had difficulty in walking even few steps.
Also important to mention here that Dr Chib, orthopedician has done multiple fellowships in joint replacement, arthroscopy, trauma, sports medicine and precisely trained to perform these kind of sophisticated surgeries.
With the latest knee implants and technique used, patient is now walking comfortably and performing his daily routine activities after the successful operation without any pain. His knee movements has increased and deformity is corrected.
Arthroscopic key hole surgeries and hip replacements are commonly performed by him but first knee replacement was done in this hospital by him.
