Wet weather to continue till May 7

SRINAGAR, Apr 30: The Meteorological Department today forecast “erratic” weather in Kashmir till May 7.
“A brief spell of rain may occur in the evening at some places today, although chances are less,” a MeT official said here.
On May 1, he said, mainly clear weather is expected while a brief spell of rain/thunderstorm may occur at a few places towards late afternoon or evening (60% chance).
From May 2- 3, he said widespread light to moderate rain (light snow over higher reaches)//thunderstorm with hailstorm and gusty winds at few places during the period.
“Overall weather is very likely to remain erratic between May 2 to 7,” he said.
In the meantime, Srinagar recorded a low of 10.5°C against 7.4°C the previous night and it was 1.2°C above normal for city.
Qazigund recorded a low of 7.8°C against 7.2°C the previous night and it was normal for the town.
Pahalgam recorded a low of 2.2°C against 3.8°C the previous night and it was 2.2°C below normal for the tourist resort.
Kokernag recorded a low of 8.8°C against 6.4°C the previous night and it was 0.8°C below normal for the place.
Gulmarg recorded a low of 1.0°C against minus 0.5°C the previous night and it was 3.2°C below normal for the skiing resort.
In Kupwara town, the mercury settled at 8.8°C against 6.4°C the previous night and it was 1.0°C above normal for the town.
Leh and Kargil recorded a low of minus 0.3°C and 3.8°C respectfully.
