SRINAGAR, Nov 26: Police in North Kashmir’s Sopore today arrested two persons for murdering of a 22-year-old woman last week.
A Police official said the victim, Nayeema Mohi-ud-Din alias Soni daughter of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Ganie of Behrampora, Sopore, was found murdered in an orchard near Hib Dangerpora crossing on November 22. Police registered an FIR (FIR No. 81/2013 under Section 302 RPC) and started investigation.
A Police official said that the murdered girl was having relationship with Mohammad Shafi Dar son of Hafizullah Dar of Chankhan, Sopore.
The official said they had developed this relationship at their workplace, a private school in Sopore, where the deceased was working as helper and Shafi as a driver. He said the call details of their mobile numbers also confirmed their relationship as they used to talk on phone for hours during night.
“Of late, Shafi had felt that the girl was no more interested in him and was suspecting her having an affair with some other person and as such had developed ill-will and resentment against her,” said the police officer.
The officer said Shafi along with his friend Mehrajudin Dar son of Nawab Dar of Saidpora, who drives a Maruti Van (JK 05C 4159) picked her up from Sopore town on November 21 and forcibly took her to an orchard near village Seelu.
“Shafi assaulted her in the vehicle and then the duo forced her to come out of the van when the victim resisted and tried to call for help. The duo overpowered and strangulated her with her head scarf to death and dumped her body in an orchard near Hib-Dangerpora crossing”, police officer said.
“Both the accused have been arrested and are lodged in the police station Dangiwacha. All evidence collected so far oral and technical suggest the involvements of two accused in the crime who have also confessed before the police,” the police official said.
