UDHAMPUR, May 1: In a major success, Udhampur Police today seized 175 kg of poppy straw from a vehicle at Zero Point Chenani, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Chenani.
The Mahindra Bolero Pickup, bearing registration number PB10GK- 4787, was intercepted by a police team of Police Station Chenani, headed by SHO S D Singh, under the supervision of SDPO Chenani Sheikh Tahir Amin during vehicle checking at Zero Morh Chenani on the National Highway.
During checking, the Police team recovered 175 kg of poppy straw-like substance from it. Driver of the vehicle, identified as Amit Sharma, son of Suresh of Gohana, Sonipat, Haryana was arrested on the spot.
Police seized the recovered poppy straw as well as the vehicle and registered a case FIR number 75/2023 under Sections 8/15 NDPS Act at Police Station Chenani.
