Jammu, Nov 26: Blaming successive National Conference (NC) regimes for the prevailing political instability and sense of insecurity in Jammu and Kashmir, patron of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today said that this party (NC) has never allowed democratic institutions to be strengthened in this region.
“From 1947 to 2002, NC leadership through its deceit tactics dismantled democratic institutions in the State because political instability suits this party which thrives only on chaos and anarchy”, he observed and asserted that PDP has challenged domination of NC and changed political discourse of the State through its visionary and pro-peace policies.
Addressing a meeting of the share holders of Citizens Cooperative Bank here today, PDP patron said that it was his desire to establish political stability in Jammu and Kashmir and to make this region as Model State. He said that Jammu and Kashmir has potential to emerge as Model State of the country and there is need of a credible leadership which gives new directions and implement visionary policies in the State.
Mufti mentioned that PDP led regime during its tenure of just three years had proved how to deliver good governance to the people and to bring transparency and accountability in the system.
“Three years is a very short span but PDP during its tenure had proved its capability of changing life of the common masses by treating all individual equally and providing equal opportunities to all sections of the society”, he said, adding, “the PDP led regime during its tenure had generated governance consciousness among the people who had a taste of good governance and pro-people administration during that period”.
Seeking support of the people for coming Lok Sabha elections, he said that PDP has fielded credible and trusted candidates so as to give real representation to the people of J&K.
Terming NC-Congress coalition as Government without common minimum programme and agenda, he recalled that “PDP’s during its tenure in Government had successfully used power as a mean to pursue the healing touch policy aimed at repairing the damaged psyche of the people, restoring their dignity, rekindling hope in their hearts and motivating them to mould their destiny through a participatory political process”.
“PDP through its works has earned credibility of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the masses are looking towards PDP to get their aspirations addressed”, he observed and added that people have realized that only PDP has the vision and conviction to solve their problems.
