Peer seeks curbs on media coverage

Srinagar, Nov 26: A relative of former Jammu and Kashmir Board of Professional Entrance Exams (JKBOPEE) chairman, Mushtaq Ahmad Peer who is the main accused in the Common Entrance Test- 2012 scam today sought Jammu and Kashmir High Court directions for the media against adverse coverage.
Aijaz Ahmad Shah, a relative of Peer, has moved an application before the Jammu and Kashmir High Court seeking directions to the Investigating Officer of the Crime Branch not to report his investigations to the media.
Shah has also sought directions from the Court that press should not report adversely about the case that is under investigation.
Shah in his application has said that the adverse reporting in the press has posed threat to life of Peer and his family and has tarnished his image badly.
In the meantime, over a dozen of students today protested against Mushtaq Peer for tarnishing the image of the institutions like BOPEE and JKPSC.
The students of 12th standard who are preparing for CET-2014 this evening protested in Partap Park area of Srinagar and demanded exemplary punishment for Peer. They said that the students who are preparing for the CET are demoralised and they had lost faith in the Institutions of BOPEE and JKPSC.
They demanded that government should take a strong action against Peer and his cohorts so that credibility of the Institutions is restored among the students.
Meanwhile, one of the candidates deposed before the Judicial Magistrate in Srinagar that he along with five other candidates were taken to Hotel on Bolevard by one of the accused Farooq Ahmad before the CET-2012.
The candidate depose before the magistrate that one day Physics and Chemistry papers were given to them and next day they were given Biology papers. He paid Rs 13 lakh to Farooq.
