Kathua police arrests 2 with sharp edged weapons

KATHUA, May 4: Kathua police has arrested two persons carrying sharp edged weapons at Jarai Chowk here, today.
Police said it received information through a reliable source that a car bearing Registration Number PB07AQ-2312 driven by an unknown person who was along with his accomplice was on their way from Bhagthalli towards Kathua with sharp-edged weapons called Toka, with the intention to create fear among the people and put the life of the general public in danger.
Police said a team led by Inspector, Sudhir Sadhotra, SHO P/S Kathua, under the guidance of DySP Headquarters, Kathua, Manjeet Singh, laid a naka at Jarai Chowk, Kathua and noticed the movement of the car.
On questioning, the driver disclosed his name as Zakir Hussain, son of Alam Din, of Chack Dhari tehsil, Marheen, district Kathua and the co-passenger disclosed his name as Mohammad Mansha, son of Alam Din of Korepunnu tehsil Marheen and district Kathua.
Upon checking the vehicle, one Toka (Length 1 feet 11 inch including handle) and one Lathi about seven feet (both sides of the corner covered by an iron strip) were recovered from the vehicle. In view of the circumstances, a case FIR No. 186/2023 U/S 4/25 Arms Act stands registered at PS Kathua, and both persons are under police custody for further interrogation.
SSP Kathua said police in the district is committed to ensuring the safety and security of the public and maintaining law and order in the district. “We urged the public to report any suspicious activities immediately and cooperate with the police in maintaining peace and harmony in the region,” he added.
