Samba police arrests 3 bovine smugglers, rescues 23 animals

SAMBA, May 4: Samba police has arrested three bovine smugglers, foiled three separate bovine smuggling attempts, rescued 23 bovine animals and seized three vehicles used for smuggling.
The arrested smugglers have been identified as Arif Hussain, son of Gul Mohammad of Qazigund Anantnag, Mohd Sharief, son of Noor Din of Qazigund, Anantnag and Mohammad Irfan, son of Mohammad Ashraf of Rajinder Pura, Vijaypur.
In this regard, three FIRs under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Samba, Police Station Ghagwal and Police Station Bari-Brahmana and investigation is in progress.
The smuggling attempts were made by the bovine smugglers by driving vehicles rashly and in violent manner especially while passing through naka points, but the brave police officials who remain alert round-the-clock foiled all the three smuggling attempts, arrested three bovine smugglers and rescued 23 bovine animals.
Twenty three bovines were rescued by a police team comprising of SHO PS Samba, Rajeshwar Singh, SHO PS Ghagwal, Bharat Bhushan and SHO PS Bari-Brahmana, Sunil Sharma under the supervision of DySP Garu Ram and Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary.
Total 50 notorious bovine smugglers have been arrested by Samba Police in three and half months, 47 FIRs have been registered, 38 vehicles used for bovine smuggling seized and 490 bovine animals have been rescued, said Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba Benam Tosh.
