JUIAK condemns attack on Shias in Pak, demands opening of Kargil-Skardu Road

KARGIL, May 5: In view of the recent attack on a school in Parachinar Pakistan targeting the minority Shia community and killing of 7 Shia teachers, Jamiyat Ullama Isna Asharia Kargil (JUIAK) Ladakh has strongly condemned the attack on Shia minorities in Pakistan.
While addressing a press conference, here today, President of JUIAK Ladakh, Sheikh Nazir Mehdi Mohammedi said that persecution of Shia Muslims of Pakistan is not a new thing whether it’s Queta or any other place where the killers of Shias are known and roaming free.
“When the Foreign Minister of Pakistan is in India to attend SCO Summit, it’s our demand to the Foreign Minister of India to take up the issue with his counterpart and urge them to take action against those terrorists,’ he said.
Sheikh Nazir further said that the people of Gilgit Baltistan in Pakistan-occupied Ladakh, are also protesting against land grabbing and illegal taxation. They are also demanding the opening of the Kargil -Skardu Road, he added.
“Jamiayat Ullama Isna Asharia Kargil extends full solidarity with the protesters and we also endorse the demand of the opening of the Kargil- Skardu Road. We hope the Government of India will respect the aspiration of the people of Ladakh and find out some solutions to opening these traditional routes of Kargil- Skardu, Turtuk- Khapolu and Goltari- Drass,” he said.
.Meanwhile, talking to media, prominent political activist Sajjad Kargil said that Takfiri Terrorism is a global threat and the world community must unitedly root out the entity of this Ideology.
The incident of Parachinar is just an example, we have seen such incidents in DI Khan, Hangu, Quetta and Chilas in the past too, he added.
“The culprits of Chilas are still not arrested. Terrorism must be eradicated from the page of history,” he said and also appealed Indian Foreign Minister to take up the issue of Shia killings in Pakistan with the Pakistani Foreign Minister who is in India these days. He also demanded the opening of Kargil Skardu road and Sheikh Ali Brolmo’s mausoleum, which is just across the border in Kargil.
Sajjad Kargili supported the people of Gilgit Baltistan who are struggling for land rights, against illegal taxation and also the opening of traditional routes.
