Two theft cases solved; 3 thieves nabbed, stolen vehicles seized

JAMMU, May 6: Jammu Police have solved two theft cases by arresting 3 thieves and recovering 8 stolen vehicles on their disclosure.
“Acting on information regarding theft in the area under its jurisdiction, a case under FIR Number 99/2023 U/S 379 IPC Act was registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar and investigation started,” a police spokesman said.
He said based on inputs, a team of Police Station Gandhi Nagar led by SDPO South Sachit Sharma assisted by SHO Gandhi Nagar Inspector Pankaj Sharma rounded up two accused persons namely Rohit Mehra son of late Bhushan Mehra, resident of Mubarak Mandi (at present Rehari, Jammu) and Sunil Kumar son of Om Parkash, resident of Greater Kailash (Jammu).
“During sustained questioning, the accused admitted their involvement in the commission of crime and on their disclosure 7 motor vehicles were recovered from their possession. The recovered vehicles are one bike bearing registration number JK02BJ-0064, four scooties bearing chasis numbers ME4JF492 DF80259408 and ME4JC448GC7476353, ME4JF505FG7180203 and ME4JC448JB7049878, and 2 scooties bearing registration numbers JK02BE-5705 and JK02BT-6473,” he added.
The spokesman said another theft case was registered at Police Post Narwal on the written complaint of Shah Mohammad son of Haji Ali of Sunjwan who alleged that that his truck bearing registration number JK21B-9057 was stolen by unknown person from Auto aid Petrol pump Narwal Jammu. He said accordingly, a case under FIR Number 140/23 u/s 379 IPC was registered in Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation started.
“During investigation, a team of Police Station Bahu Fort led by SDPO East Syed Zaheer Abbas Jafari with the help of CCTV footages of the area recovered the stolen vehicle from the accused namely Raj Kumar son of Munshi Ram of Sunail Majalta (Udhampur),” he said, adding, the accused was also involved earlier in a case FIR Number 24/2019 u/s 379 IPC of Police Station Bahu Fort.
Further investigation of the case was going on, he further added.
