HAZARIBAGH, JHARKHAND, Nov 28:
A local court has allowed brain mapping and narco analysis of the three bodyguards of Jharkhand Excise Minister Jaiprakash Bhai Patel and two drivers in connection with the missing weapons case.
The police got the permission from the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Hazaribagh, yesterday, according to Superintendent of Police Manoj Kaushik.
On November 24, two AK-47 rifles, a service revolver and cartridges were reported missing by the body guards of the Jharkhand minister from an inspection bungalow in Hazaribagh.
The body guards had retired for the day at the inspection bungalow on November 23 after dropping the minister at his residence in Hazaribagh town and reported to their seniors that they found the weapons missing when they woke up the next morning.
The bodyguards were Special Branch sub-inspector Navnit Tiwari, who had the revolver, Jharkhand Armed Police Havildars, Kishan Rai and Indra Kumar Chhetri. They were suspended the following day, the SP said.
Bhubaneswar Mahto and Anil Kumar, the two drivers of private vehicles used as escort cars of the minister, were the other two against whom the police sought brain mapping and narco tests, the SP said.
“We have collected evidence against all the five and on the basis of them a case has been registered under section 404 (dishonest misappropriation of property), 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 120B (conspiracy),” the SP said.
“This (incident) cannot happen without the involvement of insiders. The two drivers played a major role in the removal of the weapons of the bodyguards,” he said on the basis of interrogation of the drivers.
All the five persons were in police custody, he said. (PTI)
