192nd annual Yagya

JAMMU, May 7: The 192nd annual Yagya of Swami Mirzakak a mystic saint of medieval Kashmir was solemnized with religious fervor and gaiety at Swami Ji’s Nagrota Asthapan near here and at his Samadhi in village Hangalgund of South Kashmiri’s Anantnag district today.
Hundreds of devotees thronged at both the religious places to pay their obeisance to Swami Mirzakak popularly known as Kak Ji. Maha Yagyas were held both at Hangalgund and Nagrota Asthapan on the occasion to invoke the blessings of this great saint. The Hawan at both the places started yesterday and culminated with Puranahuti this afternoon.
Braving the heavy downpour and hailstorm hundreds of devotees reached Hangalgund from Jammu and other parts of Kashmir Valley yesterday evening to take part in annual Yagya. The devotees participated in Bhajan Kirtan during the whole day. The Samadhi of Swami Ji was fully decorated with colorful flowers by the devotees.
The administration had made elaborate arrangements for the devotees who visited Hangalgund for their boarding and lodging.
At Nagrota Asthapan the religious discourses were held on Swami Ji’s spiritual life, teachings and mystic power. It was said that he had spelled a doom for the then tyrant Afghan Governor who had committed atrocities on innocent people of Kashmir during his rule. The reference to the same lies in one of Swami Ji’s couplets in his Vaakhs in which Swami Ji says “It will be end of Afghan rule and Kashmir will be now governed by Sikh ruler”. It is said that within days Maharaja Ranjit Singh ruler of Punjab invaded Kashmir and defeated Afghan rulers and forced them to fled Afghanistan.
Speakers said that his Vaakhs are full of religious and spiritual philosophy, which are having a great significance for the people.
The functions at Nagrota and Hangalgund were organized by Swami Mirzakak Trust led by Bushan Lal Hangloo as president and Avtar Krishan Raina as general secretary.
