Bodhi urges LG for timely assessment, compensation of damaged crops

JAMMU, May 8: DDC Chairman Jammu, Bharat Bhushan Bodhi today urged the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to provide adequate compensation to the farmers of Jammu who have lost their crops in the recent incessant rains and hailstorm that completely damaged the standing crops of farmers.
The DDC Chairman was speaking at the meeting organized by BJP District Kissan Morcha North Jammu here today. The meeting was organized by Raman Singh, President of BJP District Kissan Morcha North Jammu while Omi Khajuria, District President BJP North Jammu was also present.
In the meeting, the BJP Kissan Morcha leaders apprised the DDC Chairman about the damages to crops due to incessant rains and hailstorm that completely damaged the standing crops of farmers. They demanded adequate compensation of damaged crops.
The DDC Chairman, who was the chief guest in the meeting, informed that the Divisional Administration and District Administration has already constituted teams and directed the Revenue Department for assessing the loss of damaged crops. He asked the Kissan Morcha leaders to have faith on the Government as the administration under the stewardship of LG Sinha is working day and night to address the problems being faced by people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The DDC Chairman Jammu said that the Central Government headed by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done more work in the last eight years than ever before for empowering farmers and making them self-reliant. He said the Government at the Centre stands fully committed to the welfare of the farmers who deserve special attention especially in view of they being the food producers of the nation.
The DDC Chairman appealed LG Sinha to issue necessary directions to the Revenue Officials for speeding up assessing the damaged crops so that the farmers would get timely compensation.
