Police foils march by protesting Polytechnic students

Protesting students being stopped by Police near DC office on Thursday.

UDHAMPUR, Nov 28: Police foiled a march by the protesting students of Government  Polytechnic Udhampur, who were proceeding towards the office of Deputy Commissioner for submitting a memorandum of demands.
The protesting students were also subjected to a mild use of force by the cops who did not allow them to proceed further.  A few protesters sustained minor injuries in the police action while  students, who were leading the protest, were taken into custody.
Led by Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the protesting students assembled at the Polytechnic and took out a rally passing from Gole Market to Mukherjee Bazaar and then  Ramnagar Chowk to Slathia Chowk. They were demanding Practical Lab in the college, adequate staff and Library.
Following the police action, Principal of the Udhampur Polytechnic also reached the spot and assured that  all possible efforts would be made to fulfill the students’ demands.
