SUMERPUR, PALI, Nov 29: Accusing Congress of working on divide and rule policy, BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi today said the Centre has created a rift among states over the issue of water distribution.
“There are confrontations among states over water sharing issue and this is all because of the Centre. Congress makes brothers, castes, communities and states confront each other because it follows divide and rule policy,” Modi said at a party’s rally here.
Modi blamed the Centre for Rajasthan not getting adequate allocation of water from Narmada river.
“Rajasthan can get more Narmada waters but it’s not getting and the Centre is responsible for it,” he said.
“The government is sitting on file and delaying installation of gates of Sardar Sarover Dam. More water can reach to the parched region here after completion of the work, but the Centre is doing politics,” he alleged.
“It is the sin of Congress party which has made your life painful,” Modi told the gathering.
The Gujarat Chief Minister also alleged that Congress-led government “worked for bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in such a manner that both Seemandhra and Telangana regions are burning.”
“Both the regions which have common language also have an issue over water,” he said.
Asserting that BJP wants to do politics of development, he said, Gujarat progressed not because of him but because of the vision of people who elected a BJP government and asked people of the area to vote for the party for ensuring similar development in Rajasthan also.
“…But Congress does not want to do anything in the name of development. It is just tossing freebies ahead of the election,” he said.
Modi claimed that when people of Pali and nearby region fall sick, they go to the neighboring state of Gujarat for treatment as there are no proper facilities available in the region in the Congress-ruled state.
He also accused Congress of betraying people by not bringing down high inflation in 100 days as promised by the party during 2009 Lok Sabha elections, and asked people not to support Congress in the upcoming elections.
