Jammu-Poonch Railway project in final stage of sanction: Soz

JAMMU, Nov 29: Former Union Minister and Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz (MP) today said that work on Jammu-Poonch Railway project was in the final stage of sanction and the work should be taken up on it shortly.
Addressing large public rallies at Rajouri and Mendhar (Poonch) today, Prof Soz said that he was well aware of the difficulties of the people of this twin border district of Rajouri and Poonch. Both the districts lack in economic development and employment opportunities. He claimed that AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi (MP) was taking keen interest in the affairs of youth in the State and economic development.
Prof Soz said that Rahul Gandhi is taking interest in the Jammu-Poonch Railway project and it is in the final stage of sanction. The work on the project would also be commenced shortly. With this, a massive economic development will take place in these two districts. He reminded that opening of Mughal Road is also the result of liberal funding by the UPA Govt and it will open new opportunities of tourism and employment.
Referring to the miseries of the people of this area, the PCC chief said that the people of these twin districts bore the brunt of three wars with Pakistan and the proxy war but they never allowed the inimical forces from outside or inside to succeed in their designs and maintained religious harmony and secular traditions despite several odds. He said secularism is the strength of our nation which needs to be further strengthened. It is possible only if Congress Party is strengthened, Prof Soz added.
PCC chief said that Congress Party is the only secular force acceptable in all the three regions of the State. It has emerged strong because of people’s support to its policies and programme. It will further lead the State towards peace, progress and prosperity. He said that Congress led UPA Government headed by Dr Manmohan Singh has taken keen interest for opening new projects by liberal funding to the State. He claimed that Congress has emerged as strong unifying and secular force in all the three regions of the State and it alone can better serve the interests of all the sections of society.
Minister for R&B Abdul Majid Wani, CLP leader Mohd Sharief Niaz, Minister of State for Health Shabir Khan, Ravinder Sharma-MLC, Shiv Kumar Sharma (INTUC) also addressed the rallies.
At Mendhar several local Congress leaders Ch Zaffraullah, Rajinder Singh Kaka, Ch Majid Khan, Murtaza Khan (Ex-MLC), Zulafkar Ali Mumtaz, Parveen Chouhan and Azar Sharzi highlighted the local problems. Several people from other parties including PDP leader and former district president Rajouri Shafi Dar joined Congress party on this occasion.
