Jammu, Nov 29 :’Actors at Work’ on day four presented an improvised play ‘Danga’ (Violence) in the ongoing programme being organised by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. A new concept of theatre training and performance has been introduced in Jammu by Indian Council for Cultural Relations through a programme ‘Actors at Work’ which is being conducted by Aisheish Nijhawan a theatre expert trained in London International School of Performing Arts.
Today’s performance was inspired from the short story of Munshi Prem Chand ‘Mandir Masjid’ in which the mind set of violent minds was beautifully exposed through a theatre act which was conceived designed and presented collectively by the participants of the ‘Actors at Work’ programme. Set at a street corner two sufferers of a violence one each a Hindu and a Muslim have taken the shelter in a dustbin with the motive to save themselves from the bad minds. In the beginning they suspect each-other and are not ready to open-up but slowly both narrate each other their respective story of the sufferings of the violence. Holding each-other they witness the street action, the stunning bad designs of the bad minds. Realizing that this kind of mentality is the biggest enemy of the humanity, both pledge to fight it out. But unfortunately the moment both come out of the dustbin, they are caught by the police as suspects. The media also glorify police for their biggest ever catch.
Commenting on this new concept of training and performance, the Regional Director of ICCR Jammu Balwant Thakur said that this is perhaps the most instant method of actors training which offers him/her multiple opportunities to explore the totality of a person.
The artists who are undergoing this five day training programme includes Shazia Batool, Zeeshan Budoo, Varun Sharma, Kuldeep Kumar Mehra, Ravinder Manhas, Abhishek Mahotra, Anmol Sharma, Max Thakur, Ronak Pandita, Gazalgeet Kour, Rajan Thakyal, Nitin Manhas, Usha Rani, Atul Sharma, Ashiq Hussain Bhat, Sachin Sharma, Vickey Kaw and Namit Dubey.
