Car falls in gorge, 2 killed

BHADERWAH, May 11: In a tragic road accident, two middle aged men were killed after the car they were travelling-in skidded off the road and fell in a deep gorge near Malhori village on Batote-Kishtwar highway today evening.
The mishap occurred after the driver of the ill fated vehicle lost control of the car and it plunged into a 200 ft deep gorge.
Passersby raised an alarm after which the locals along with cops started rescue operation and shifted both the men to Medical College Doda.
When contacted SSP Doda, Abdul Qayoom said: “Two persons travelling in a car were on way to Jammu from Prem Nagar area of Doda. When they reached Malhori, the driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a sharp curve and the car fell into the gorge.”
He said that both the travellers were shifted to GMC Doda where doctors declared them as brought dead.
“Bodies of the deceased will be handed over to their family members after post-mortem and other legal formalities,” the SSP maintained.
The deceased were identified as Joginder Paul, son of Lt. Bodh Raj, resident of Panthan, Parnote, Prem Nagar and Ranjeet Kumar, son of Swami Raj, resident of Prem Nagar.
