Samba Police arrests 2 bovine smugglers, rescues 16 animals

SAMBA, May 11 : Police has foiled bovine smuggling attempt during the intervening night at Naka Nud in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Samba, arrested two bovine smugglers, rescued 16 animals and seized vehicle used for smuggling.
The arrested smugglers have been identified as Nisar Ahmed, son of Gulam Qadir of Shangus district, Anantnag and Yasir Awan, son of Mohammad Yousaf Awan of Qazigund district Anantnag.
In this regard, FIR under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station, Samba and investigation is in progress.
Bovines were rescued by a police team comprising of SHO PS Samba, Rajeshwar Singh and ASI Ashok Kumar under the supervision of DySP Garu Ram Bhardwaj and Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary.
Total 52 notorious bovine smugglers have been arrested by Samba Police in four months after launch of special drive against smugglers of all kinds in Samba district on the directions of SSP Samba Benam Tosh, 48 FIRs have been registered against bovine smugglers, 39 vehicles used for bovine smuggling have been seized and 506 bovine animals have been rescued in Samba district.
