JAMMU, May 11: A man was killed and his 70-year-old father was injured today when an Eeco vehicle hit the bike on which they were riding on, in Purkhoo area of city outskirts.
Police sources said that a bike bearing registration number JK02CF-2598 being rode by a man identified as Ashwani (42) son of Rattan Lal, resident of Top Paloura, towards Jammu on wrong tube of the Jammu-Akhnoor highway, was hit by an Eeco vehicle bearing registration number JK02BD-3240 at Purkhoo.
They said in the mishap, Ashwani and pillion rider Rattan Lal (father of Ashwani) sustained serious injuries. “They were immediately shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu, where Ashwani succumbed to his injuries at about 6:50 PM,” they added.
Sources said that the dead body of the deceased was sent for postmortem while a case in this connection was registered at Police Station Kanachak and investigation started.
