JAMMU, May 12: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu and Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore today signed Memorandum of Understanding to primarily foster academic and research co-operation between the two Institutions for exchange of students for Sandwich / Twinning Post Graduate Degree Programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Nazir Ahmed Ganai, Vice Chancellor SKUAST Jammu, briefed that scope of MoU shall be widened to the areas of Joint Research Programmes, conferences, seminars, workshops in areas of common interest and faculty exchange programmes also.
Prof Ganai explained that under Exchange of Students for Sandwich / Twinning Post-graduate degree Programmes, both SKUAST-J and TNAU have jointly agreed to initiate Sandwich/Twinning Post-graduate degree programmes where candidates shall complete part of their degree programmes in one University and part in another.
On the occasion, Dr Geetalakshmi, Vice Chancellor TNAU, highlighted that SKUAST-J and TNAU will undertake joint research work in the areas of mutual interest. The two Institutes agreed to share their respective important R&D facilities in order to promote academic and research interactions in the areas of co-operation to intensify the high priority area programmes of science and technology. The MOU was signed by Prof S K Gupta (Registrar SKUAST Jammu) and Dr R Thamizh Vendan (Registrar, TNAU, Coimbatore) in presence of Dr Rakesh Nanda (Director Education) and Dr B C Sharma (Dean Faculty of Agriculture SKUAST J)
