4 children injured in accidental explosion of pressure cooker

UDHAMPUR, May 12: Four children were injured in an accidental explosion of pressure cooker at Sira-B Panchayat of Latti Tehsil of District Udhampur, here this morning.

The incident took place around 7:30 am when the family was cooking food for school going children. The pressure cooker, in which meal was being prepared, suddenly exploded resulting into serious injuries to the children who were waiting for food.
Family members rushed the injured children to District Hospital Udhampur where doctors referred all of them to GMC Hospital Jammu Hospital in view of their critical condition.
The injured were identified as Bushan Kumar (10), son of Baldev Kumar, his younger brother Yog Raj (7), Pawan Kumar (14), son of Sohan Lal and Gulshan (11) son of Hari Chand, all residents of Sira-B Panchayat.
When the pressure cooker exploded, other family members were busy in other room making arrangements for the Choubarsi (4th death anniversary) of a deceased daughter-in-law of the family.
Meanwhile, a Kaccha house was completely gutted in a fire incident at Thanda Pani in Ramnagar today.
The said house belonged to Guddi Devi, wife of late Hans Raj. Even as there was no loss of life or injuries to anyone, the house was completely gutted in the fire. Cause of fire and exact loss of property were not yet ascertained.
