JAMMU, May 13: Art of Living followers in 180 countries celebrated 67th birthday celebrations of the global spiritual leader and guide, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, by organising tree plantation drives, blood donation camps, service activities and online meditation for global peace in the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (Entire world a family).
The Art of Living also launched Medical Oxygen Banks that would be connected to make a Medical Oxygen Grid covering 766 districts; 1428 district hospitals; 3550 Taluka hospitals; 17778 Community Health Centers and 37221 Primary Health Centers.
The Art of Living – Jammu organised several programmes, in tune with the organisation ideology of Sadhna, Seva and Satsang, to commemorate the occasion. A mesmerizing concert of divine and blissful music was organised in the evening at Teachers Auditorium, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu which was attended by a large number of people from all walks of life. A Guru Pooja, meditation session (Online/webcast) was also held.
It was followed by a splendid performance by Archana Sharma, a renowned international classical singer, music teacher, signature artist with Sumeru Sandhya Art of Living Satsangs & AOL Senior Faculty who kept the gathering enchanted with his rendition of blissful Bhajans.
The concert was organised to raise funds for GIFT, a SMILE Project an art of living initiative to educate the rural and tribal children in which AOL is already running 1096 plus schools pan- Indiain 22 states with a strength of 82000 plus students of 2032 villages free of cost and rejuvenation of 70 rivers across Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and different states of India taking challenge seriously to avert increasing suicides by farmers in the country which has benefitted 35 million rural population in over 19400 villages.
The event started with Guru Bhajans by Guru Pooja performed by Guru Pandits of AOL Jammu chapter along with all teachers of Jammu. The candle lighting ceremony which was done by Apex Members Jai Aggarwal and Sameer Bahrti, Swami Kumarji a renowned saint , Rajan Salalia, Shakti Sagar and other dignitaries of Art Of Living Chapter Jammu and Kashmir.
Similar events were also organised at Kathua and Udhampur to mark the birth celebrations of the revered guru.
