JAMMU, May 16: With a view to strengthen cooperative movement and deepening its reach in Jammu and Kashmir, the Government today constituted Union Territory and District Level Cooperative Development Committees.
An order to this effect was issued today by Commissioner/ Secretary General Administration Department (GAD) Sanjeev Verma.
The Chief Secretary will be Chairman of the UT Level Cooperative Development Committee while the Administrative Secretary Cooperatives will be the convenor.
Members of the Committee include Administrative Secretaries of Agriculture, Finance, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj and Revenue Department; Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Chief General Manager NABARD, Convenor J&K Lead Bank, representatives from National Cooperative Development Corporation, National Dairy Development Board and National Fisheries Development Board, Chairman/Managing Director of State Cooperative Bank, Chairman/Managing Director of State Federation of Dairy Cooperative Societies, Chairman/Managing Director of State Federation of Fisheries Cooperative Societies and any other co-opted member.
The Committee will ensure that all Panchayats/Villages in Jammu and Kashmir are covered by multipurpose PACS or primary dairy/fishery cooperative societies, as the case may be.
“The Committee will review district-wise action plan for setting up new multipurpose PACS or primary dairy/fishery cooperative societies with a total target of established two lakh such societies in the next five years across the country,” the GAD order said.
It will extend all necessary support in preparation and updation of National Cooperative database.
The District Level Cooperative Development Committee will be headed by the Deputy Commissioner as the Chairperson while the Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies will be the convener.
Members of the district committee include Additional District Development Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Assistant Director Fisheries, Managing Director DCCB/StCB, District Lead Bank Manager, District Development Manager NABARD, representatives from National Dairy Development Board, national Fisheries Development Board and J&K Dairy/Fisheries Cooperative Federation and any other co-opted member.
