Durga Nagar Committee highlights demands

JAMMU, May 17: A meeting of Durga Nagar Welfare Committee was held under the chairmanship of Roshan Lal Raina and Sanjay Ganjoo, president, Sector One and Sector Two respectively.
The meeting discussed problems created to the people in the area due to prolonged gap in water supply, delay in restoration of tube well, plugging of leakages, construction of left out roads in Durga Nagar Sector 1,2, and 3 and construction of new tube wells. The meeting in its appeal to Chief Engineer Jal Shakti and Executive Engineer, Mechanical Jal Shakti Department to restore the tube wells at Durga Nagar which are not properly functioning and water supplied from them is totally impure.
The meeting also demanded that the water supply gap be also reduced during these hot days as people are facing many hardships due to water scarcity in the area.
The meeting in an appeal to Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation to issue directives to concerned officers to cover the main holes in the area otherwise any untoward incident can happen. Besides, the pending roads in Sector 1, 2 and 3 be blacktopped immediately as they are in a dilapidated condition.
The Committee also discussed other issues of displaced people from Kashmir which included enhancement of cash relief, extension of various schemes to migrants. It appealed Lt Governor to pay a visit to migrant camps and non camp areas to ascertain the problem of people living there and also appealed him to enhance the relief of the migrants in view of sky rocketing prices of essential commodities.
Ravinder Bakshi, Chairman of the Committee, C L Zutshi, M K Raina, R L Koul, Bharat Bushan Gosani and Bansi Lal Koul, were among others who attended the meeting.
