Seven peddlers held with heroin

JAMMU, May 17: Jammu Police today arrested seven peddlers from different locations and recovered 17.60 grams of heroin from their possession.
“A team of Police Station Satwari led by SDPO South Sachit Sharma and assisted by SHO Satwari Inspector Sumeet Sharma while on naka duty at Satwari Chowk rounded up five suspected persons on a vehicle bearing registration number JK21C-4916 and during search, recovered 11.50 grams of heroin from their possession,” a police spokesman said.
He said a case in this connection was registered at Police Station Satwari and all the five accused identified as Mohit Vaid alias Puchi son of Devinder Vaid, resident of Bakshi Nagar (Jammu), Mohd Rayees son of Mohd Amin of Budoon (Rajouri), Rajesh Kumar alias Raju son of Sukhdev Singh of Rethal (Rajouri), Sajad Mehmood son of Mohd Aslam of Rethal and Sageer Ahmed son of Mohd Ayoub of Dahnore Loharian (Rajouri), arrested.
“Similarly, Sidhra Police while on naka duty at Tawi Bridge (Sidhra) rounded up a suspected person identified as Vijay Sharma son of Premu, resident of Neeli Jandrorh (Ramnagar, Udhampur) and during search, recovered 2.10 grams of heroin from his possession,” the spokesman said, adding, in this regard, a case FIR No 228/2023 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Nagrota and the accused arrested.
He said a team of Narwal Police also recovered 4 grams of heroin from a peddler identified as Khalid Hussain son of Abdul Aziz, resident of Kulgam (at present living in Malik Market, Narwal, Jammu). “In this regard, a case under FIR No 157/23 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and the accused got arrested,” he added.
