Awareness programmes organized on World AIDS Day

JAMMU, Dec 1: On the occasion of World AIDS Day, awareness programmes were organized across the State by various Government agencies and social organizations.
National Development Foundation (NDF) under the aegis of J&K State AIDS Prevention and Control Society in collaboration with District Hospital Rajouri, organized an awareness camp on HIV/AIDS at District Hospital Rajouri.  A painting competition was also held depicting various aspects of HIV/AIDS.
Dr Sumit Bakshi, District Programme Officer NDF, briefed the gathering on Worlds AIDS Day, which  is observed on first of December every year to raise awareness about HIV/ AIDS and to demonstrate no discrimination with people living with HIV/AIDS.
Dr  Rakesh Sharma,  Dy Superintendent, District Hospital Rajouri,  apprised the gathering about the initiatives taken by Health Department . for the people living with HIV/AIDS.
Mubassir Latifi, Superintendent of Police, Rajouri,  who was chief guest on the occasion, pointed out that discrimination with the people living with HIV/ AIDs remains a major obstacle in all parts of the State. He added that there should be zero discrimination  with these people for their better lives.
Prominent among others present on the occasion include Dr  Sheikh Mukhtar, Dr  Manoj, Dr  Ghulam, Lal Begum,  Shahzad Khan,  Kapil Sharma,  Firdous Qureshi,  Adarsh Rattan and Dr Sorabh Raina.
In Jammu, Vipan Nischal, Jammu chief of Congress Seva Dal (Urban), organized a seminar on World AIDS Day, here today at Circular Road Jammu.
On the occasion,  Mr  Nischal informed the Seva Dal worker to aware people about AIDS, which spreads due to  transfusion of blood, wrong use of needle and unsafe sex
Others who spoke, included  Sahani, Vinek Malhotra, Prem Sagar, Raja Ji, Krishan  Kumar Capt  Prem Singh and   Gurbachan Singh.
The World AIDS Day was observed today by People’s Social and Cultural Society (PSCS) in collaboration with ICTC District Hospital, Kantibagh, Baramulla under the guidance of Jammu & Kashmir  State AIDS Control and Prevention Society.
The camp was inaugurated by Dy Medical Superintendent Dr Masrat Iqbal, incharge ICTC Shahida Aziz and Chairman PSCS Rafi Razaqi and other faculty members of Distt Hospital Baramulla and PSCS.
The main aim of the camp was to aware the people regarding the deadly disease HIV/AIDS and STD. The Dy Medical Superintendent delivered the lecture on the prevention of HIV/AIDS and awared the people about the relevance of World AIDS Day.
