DC Kupwara reviews functioning of Social Welfare, ICDS Deptts

KUPWARA, May 18: In order to review the progress, implementation and extension of benefits of various Government schemes under Social Welfare and ICDS, the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Kupwara, Dr. Doifode Sagar Dattatray today chaired a meeting of officers of both the departments.
The DC held a threadbare deliberation on implementation of beneficiary-oriented schemes and took comprehensive review of schemes including POSHAN, functioning of Anganwadi centres, RBSKY, National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP), Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS) & State Marriage Assistance Scheme (SMAS), providing Nutrition among Anganwadi beneficiaries, Bal Ashram and Nari Niketan.
At the outset, a detailed Powerpoint presentation was given by the ICDS department and the chair was apprised about the functioning of the Department and targets achieved so far.
The DC reviewed staff strength and number of anganwadi centres in rented accommodations in the district. It was informed that 13 Anganwadi buildings were lying with the mates, contractors who have not handed over the buildings yet to ICDS.
Dr Sagar asked CDPOs and BDOs to get the anganwadi buildings from the concerned mates within two days positively and make the AWCs functional.
It was apprised that 19 Anganwadi centres have been shifted in vacant government school buildings and are fully functional which were identified by the education department and handed over to ICDS.
He reviewed the percentage of children attending the AWCs in each project and asked CDPOs to reach out to the concerned parents and make the AWCs more attractive so that the presence of children in AWCs is enhanced.
He also directed AWWs to make a separate profile of enrolled children and evaluate the behavior and performance on the basis of morphological changes in a well devised Performa.
The DC directed the concerned officers for do proper evaluation and qualitative assessment of rented AWCs on the basis of physical and infrastructural parameters. He also directed concerned CDPOs to use Google Read Along app in each AWCs.

The DC stressed upon the Officers to take comprehensive measures to reach out to all eligible beneficiaries, besides making the Welfare schemes easily accessible to the people so that maximum beneficiaries of the district can reap the benefits
DC Kupwara asked concerned officers to get the actual figure of stunted children and transgender in the district so that a proper database is prepared and they are reached out well in time.
