A scene from Hindi play ‘Soot Na Kapas’, staged by Natrang on Sunday.

JAMMU, Dec 1: ‘Soot Na Kapas’, a  mind-blowing play in Hindi written by Shailender and directed by Neeraj Kant, was staged here today at Natrang Studio Theatre, Kachi Chawni in its  Sunday Theatre Series.
Staged on the World Aids Day, the play carried the message about HIV AIDS awareness.
The play opens in the house of one ‘Chaman Singh’ who is taunting his wife and telling her to get ready fast as they have to reach his Boss’s home in time and she is much involved in preening and Make Up. The wife suggests him to borrow scooter from his friend ‘Ramesh’ as this may save their time. The drama starts here, as instead of going physically to his friend, Chaman Singh goes to his home in imagination and imagines all the happenings on his own. He finds that Ramesh is shirking to give the scooter to him and cooks false excuses. He again visits him in his imagination and tries to make him ready, but to his wonder, he is once again denied, this makes him angry and he makes another attempt, yet again in imagination only but Ramesh is a hard-nut to crack, he refuses this time also. Getting frustrated and embarrassed, he goes to Ramesh again, but this time in reality and spits all the anger on him, of which Ramesh was not even aware of. So, the play very beautifully presents how our thoughts may prove wrong which may end up in a situation like this.
Uplaksh Singh Kotwal as ‘Chaman Singh’, Sakshi Prakash as ‘Shaanti’ and Ashwani Bali as ‘Ramesh’ acted their respected roles with the required timings and energy. Neeraj Kant designed the lights, Shivam Manhas operated the music. Mohd Yaseen and Mahikshit Singh erected the sets. Sajra Qadir did the presentations and the show was coordinated by Sumeet Sharma.
